Into the Wild

by Andreas Flögel

Oh, Darling, now I understand your love for nature’s beauty and loneliness.

Sparkling dew drops on the grass, the song of birds, rustling trees.

I was a fool to miss out on that, all the many weekends, when you took your hiking boots and knapsack to enjoy the outdoors, while I stayed in the city to tour the pubs with the boys.

But this time I followed you. And I really appreciated your affinity for these deserted landscapes, when you and your lover finally fell asleep and I, without fear of being seen, entered your tent to cut your throats.

Pink is the New Green

by Andreas Flögel

Although the flamingos were only plastic lawn ornaments, they were Mary’s pride and joy.

During winter, they were kept in storage, not to take damage in the cold.

In spring, they got polished until they glistened in the sun, then carefully planted on the lawn.

Then Mary had a baby. The flamingos were forgotten, and they lost their shine.

Mary left the cradle with the child in the garden, but only for a minute. Returning, she did not see the red spots on the plastic birds.

When she looked into the cradle, her cries were heard all over the street.

Access to Your Heart

by Andreas Flögel

When he woke up, his chest hurt. As usual, she had immobilised him with handcuffs and ropes. But something was new.

“Have a look.” She helped him lift his head. A zipper was sewn into the flesh of his breast. She grinned.

“When I open it, I can see your heart beating.” The ball gag prevented him from asking, but she knew him well enough. “Why? Controlling your body isn’t all. I want access to your heart. See it, touch it, and eventually squeeze it till it stops.”

Even the gag could not hide the big smile on his face.
