Cannibal Bridge

by Jodi Jensen

“You gonna do it?”

Jeremy looked at the derelict bridge, considering. “I don’t know, man. It’s creepy. Why’s it called Cannibal Bridge, anyway?”

“I dunno, maybe cannibals live under it.” Oscar shrugged.

Standing before the dilapidated wood, Jeremy’s nose crinkled at the rotten stench and he hesitated. “What do I get if I cross?”

“You wanna be famous, right?”

Nodding, Jeremy stepped onto the bridge.

Oscar pushed record on his phone.

A deep cavern with jagged teeth opened. The maw bit down, chewed, and swallowed. “Bring me more…”

Oscar turned to go. Better the Judas goat than the sheep.

Death By Cake Pop

by Jodi Jensen

“Almost ready, dear.” Joslyn ignored the growling in the corner and focused on her batch of cake pops.

Humming a cheery tune, she picked up a homemade squib (God bless the internet!) and rolled it in her dough. She poked the stick in, then dipped it in melted chocolate and voilà!

Her undead husband’s teeth gnashed as he struggled against the ropes binding him.

She shoved a cake pop into his mouth, then dove behind the counter.

Boom!

She jumped up to find his exploded head coating the walls.

Grinning, she rolled another cake pop…she had neighbours, after all.

Overgrown

by Jodi Jensen

“Would you look at this…” Ignoring the weeds growing in an abandoned truck at the derelict rest stop, Randall slid into the driver’s seat and gripped the gear shifter. “It’s so cool.”

A movement by his elbow caught his attention, and he turned to see a broad green leaf wrap around his arm. Razor-sharp edges cut into his flesh and blood dribbled down his wrist as another leaf wrapped around his leg.

Vines twisted around his chest, pinning him in the seat as a massive pod opened from the steering wheel.

Gleaming rows of bloody teeth gnashed, swallowing his screams.

Watch Where You Step

by Jodi Jensen

“Mom! Dad!” Kelly’s shouts were met with a clattering noise from the other room. She raced toward the kitchen. “Mom? Dad? Let’s go!” Her foot hit the tiled floor and she slipped, landing her on her butt. “What the he—”

Feet shuffling, her mom turned, dead grey eyes staring, jaw chomping.

Kelly scrambled backward. Her hand smacked the sticky floor and something smashed beneath her palm with a pop.

Her stomach lurched as she glanced down.

An eyeball…

Her dad lay on the floor next to her, empty eye socket gaping, throat gurgling.

Fuck…

He reached for Kelly’s leg.

The First Bite

by Jodi Jensen

Lush, full, delicious lips were all he could think about. All he could focus on when she was near.

And man, she was near.

So close he could smell her coconut shampoo. See the vein throbbing in her neck as she gazed at him, breathless.

He wrapped an arm around her waist and swept her against his body. “I’m going to eat you up.”

“Promise?” she whispered, a seductive smile curving her ruby red lips.

“I promise.” He dipped his head closer. “And I always keep my promises.”

He bit her lip, savoring her gasp, her blood, then her screams.
